The October Newsletter & Diary contains a tribute to Sue Binks and details of village events, including coffee mornings and a stunning new exhibition at Nunnington Hall.

Welcome to the October 2025 Newsletter & Diary, which gives details of events in the village this month. You will find updates and further details on the online calendar at nunnington.net/calendar-months/.

We say farewell to Sue Binks this month, our Vicar here at Nunnington since 2018 and before that our Curate in training for the full priesthood. Alastair Stewart, one of our Churchwardens, has written a tribute to Sue for this newsletter, and there are more posts on our village website telling Sue’s story and her help in the renovation work of All Saints and St James, our church here in Nunnington. Everyone is invited to join Sue at her farewell service on Sunday, 12 October at 11 am in St Saviour’s Church, Harome
There are two special services at Nunnington this month. The annual Pet Service is on Sunday, 5 October at 11 am in the Church and the Harvest Festival Service is on Sunday, 19 October at 4 pm at Nunnington Studios. All are very welcome to come.
The Coffee Morning is on Thursday, 2 October, the first Thursday of the month, in the Courtyard at Nunnington Studios. It’s an excellent opportunity to catch up with neighbours, so do come along. Sally gives a 10% discount on drinks and cakes to village residents.
An amazing exhibition of photos of trees and their place in our landscape has opened at Nunnington Hall. The exhibition, All the Wood’s a Stage by Joe Cornish and Simon Baxter, is open every day in October except 6, 13 and 20 October from 10.30 am to 5 pm (with last entry to the Hall at 4 pm). It’s well worth visiting (entry is free for Nunnington residents).
Don’t forget the Parish Council meets on Tuesday, 21 October in the Village hall at 7 pm. All are welcome.

We are now into the new rubbish collection regime. Collection dates and types for October are listed in the Diary and online calendar. We’ve taken these from the NYC website, so please refer to the Calendar if you are confused or uncertain as to what to put out when!
