How we commemorated VE Day

We dressed for the occasion, we ate, we drank, we sang and commemorated the 80th Anniversary of VE Day in style

VE Day. A day of commemoration. A day of celebration. Everyone coming together to honour the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II in Europe. The night consisted of music, singing, laughter, with divine drinks & nibbles that were shared amongst the many folk who attended.

The efforts of the Parish Council, who organised the event, did not go unnoticed and the generous donations from everyone raised £325 for the phenomenal charity Help for Heroes. A special mention to Jo Rooke for her amazing singing and for keeping the night in order!

However, what really brought the night together was the stunning war dress that people went above and beyond to create. Mary and Maggie as beautiful land girls, and lain as an air raid warden with his own handmade outfit. Clang and Jeremy used parts of the uniforms worn by their respective fathers. And Chris Cooke made a fantastic appearance with his 1942 Matchless G3-WO motorcycle.

It was a great evening with wonderful people, delicious food and huge drinks (thanks to all who contributed, especially the Parish Council).
