The Parish Council met today to discuss matters relating to the parish.

The Parish Council met today and discussed a number of parish matters:

  • Stephen Rooke, the Chair, welcomed Maggie Dickenson as the new Clerk to the Council, and presented Bridget Till, the outgoing clerk, with a small gift for her decade of service.
  • The minutes of the last meeting were agreed upon and signed off.
  • The annual accounts for the Council were presented and approved; various documents were signed for forwarding to North Yorkshire Council in accordance with parish council regulations
  • John Elphinstone, Treasurer to the Parish Council, confirmed that the Council had applied for online banking and awaited approval from the bank
  • The proposed path to the cricket pitch was further discussed, and Andrew Phillips agreed to submit a funding application and obtain the requisite letters from the Nunnington Estate.
  • The issue of the safety of the school buses on Church Street, especially during icy conditions, was raised. The possibility of rerouting the buses was discussed but left unresolved.
  • The purchase of a mirror to be placed at the top of Church Street was again discussed; it was agreed that this was impractical. The Chair also argued that, in his memory, there had been no collisions at the junction and asked if a mirror was necessary.
  • Dog poo bins were again requested. After some discussion, it was agreed to stick with the policy of “stick and flick”. However, it was also agreed that something meeded to be done to change the behaviour of dog owners who did nothing.
  • The next meeting was set for Thursday 25th July at 7pm in the Village Hall.
