Nunnington residents, past and present, were prominent in their support of the Mozart Requiem Concert. The concert was held to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Ampleforth Schola Cantorum (delayed a couple of years by Covid).

The singers included the current Schola Cantorum, joined by the Schola Alumni and the Ampleforth and Ryedale Concert Choir. Sally Aspinall sang as a member of the latter, and at least two other former Nunnington residents also performed. The Ampleforth Chamber Orchestra supported the singers.

The combined choirs and orchestra had the opportunity for one rehearsal this afternoon, and with over a hundred performers in the Abbey, the concert was magnificent. Not only did Nunningtonians past and present contribute their voices, but a number of villagers were amongst the audience, both to enjoy the brillant music as well as to support performing friends.

Congratulations in particular to Sally Aspinall, who dashed off after the concert to prepare for the Mother’s day service in our parish church, at which the Nunnington Choir, led by Sally, are scheduled to sing.
