December 2024 Newsletter and Diaries
November in Nunnington
In November, we remembered those who fell during the war, presented a large cheque to the Yorkshire Air Ambulance and had a lot of fun at the village quiz night.

Forthcoming events
We have listed all the forthcoming events we know about in the Diary and on the Nunnington website calendar at nunnington.net/calendar-months/. In brief,
- Christmas church services are listed on the calendar and at nunnington.net/pastoral/. Don’t forget Christingle on 1 December and the Blessing of the Crib on Christmas Eve.
- The last coffee morning of the year, a Christmas special, is on 6 December.
- There are still a few places left for the wreath-making evening on Friday, 6 December – details at nunnington.net/event/20241206-wreath-making/
- We sing carols around the tree at the Village Hall, followed by a bar on Sat 21 Dec.
- The village carol service is on Sunday 22nd December. The village choir has reformed for the occasion, and choir practice takes place every Wednesday evening before the service.
The Old Yard Coffee Shop
A reminder that, until Sunday, 8 Dec, the Old Yard Coffee Shop will be open on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 10 am to 3.30 pm. In other words, there is only tomorrow and next weekend to enjoy the delights of the Coffee Shop (including the Christmas Coffee Morning on Friday 6th December)
Read the details and a message from Sally and Jane at nunnington.net/20240923-coffee-shop-update/
Do come along for a coffee and cake and Jane’s wonderful winter warmers tomorrow and next weekend. You can also buy a Christmas wreath made by Clang or Victoria, and Christmas cards in aid of the Samaritans.
The Old Yard coffee shop closes on Sunday, 8 December, and reopens in April 2025 before Easter.
Nunnington Hall – A Yorkshire Year and Festive Evenings
Your last chance to see Robert Dutton’s exhibition of paintings in Nunnington Hall during the first two weekends of December. Entry is free for Parishoners, and Hall opening times are in the Diary.
The Hall is also hosting two Festive Evenings on Saturday 7 and 14 December, a chance to see the Hall by candlelight over a glass of mulled wine.
In Winter’s House
Jells Finn is a member of the Micklegate Singers choir, which will present a selection of winter music at The Unitarian Chapel, St Saviourgate, York, on Sat, 7 Dec, at 1 pm. See the full programme at https://www.micklegatesingers.co.uk/concerts
