Canon Sue Binks

The Rev’d Sue Binks is now Canon and Prebend of Bilton.

Have no anxiety. Rev’d Sue is still our Vicar of the Kirkdale Benefice and her work and presence with us will remain unchanged. However what great recognition of this, to be invited by the Archbishop of York, and the Dean of York, to become a member of the College of Canons of York Minster.

A most beautiful and moving service took place on Saturday 16th September, in York Minster; an Evensong, sung by the Choir of York Minster, including the Collation, Admission and Installation of the new members of the College of Canons. Rev’d Sue was one of eight others, and she was our shining star.

The role of Canon is principally to be the ‘voice of the Diocese’ in discussion with the Chapter about the work of the Minster, and to support closer ties between the Minster and the parishes of the Diocese through programmes of outreach and engagement. It is a role that Rev’d Sue will greet with enthusiasm and joy, and one so well deserved.
