New recycling regime
Updated Dec 20, 2025

Our shiny new recycling wheelie bins have arrived!
You now have at least three bins, and possibly four or even five, to store around your house:
- Green or black household bins for anything that cannot go into any of the other bins are collected twice every four weeks
- Blue-lidded bins for newspaper, magazine, cardboard, greeting card, paper, junk mail, envelopes, grey card and white card recycling are collected once every four weeks
- Red-lidded bins for plastic bottle, plastic pot, plastic tray, tin, can, aerosol, glass jar, glass bottle, clean foil and carton recycling are collected once every four weeks
- Brown garden waste bins for cuttings, clippings and small twigs are collected every fortnight between March and November (if you have purchased a garden waste licence)
Please put everything into your red- or blue-lidded recycling bins loose and do not use plastic sacks.
Collection schedule
Wheelie bins (excluding brown garden waste bins) are typically collected on Friday mornings. Collection schedules may vary over the Christmas and New Year holidays and, if possible, will be published on the village website and in the diary.
Please leave your bins on the roadside by 6 am on collection days.
Brown garden waste bins are collected every other Tuesday. Again, please leave your bins on the roadside by 6 am on collection days.

An idea
If one of your bins is consistently full to overflowing, don’t buy another bin or take an unnecessary trip to Wombleton, but find a friendly neighbour willing to share a less-than-full bin.
